There have been complaints of overcrowding at this year's Chinese New Year parade which some disappointed attendees have claimed was 'badly organised.' Record crowds are said to have attended the famous Dragon Parade on Sunday afternoon (February 11).
The parade through the streets of Manchester city centre, which town hall chiefs said thousands were expected to attend, was held to mark the beginning of the Year of the Dragon.
It was headed up by a 175ft Chinese Dragon, accompanied by traditional lion and ribbon dancers, Chinese Opera performers, twelve Zodiac animals and Ancient Army characters, as well as choir performances and Chengdu acrobats.

In Chinatown, a stage had been erected on the Faulkner Street Car Park with half an hour's live performances before the dragon parade left Chinatown.
However, some of those who turned out for the parade have claimed it was a 'disaster'. Only certain sections of the pavement along the parade routes were barriered off, meaning many excited revellers spilled onto the street to try and get a better look.
A Manchester councillor has told the M.E.N that Chinatown became 'very congested with very large crowds' and added that there will be a 'review of safety measures for future events.'
One eyewitness told the Manchester Evening News it was 'way too overcrowded' in Chinatown itself, and that attendees were 'having to shout to
