A woman has been caught on camera lobbing a bottle at a police car before tearing the number plate off.
The incident took place in Warrington on Saturday, December and the local force say they will now have to spend money on repairs.
Officers have released the CCTV footage and are asking anybody who knows who the woman is to get in touch with them reports the ECHO.
In the footage, a woman repeatedly throws a plastic bottle at a marked police car that was parked on Bridge Street then returns to the car and pulls at the back of it.
She then rips the number plate from the back of the police car before walking away with it in her hand.
Sergeant Graham Robinson, of Warrington Local Policing, said: “The CCTV footage clearly shows the suspect attempting to damage the police car, repeatedly throwing a bottle at the car, before ripping the number plate off the back of the vehicle.
"Her behaviour was totally unacceptable, and her deliberate act of criminal damage resulted in one of our cars being taken off the road for repairs."
