A busy main road near Manchester city centre was closed on Monday evening after a van flipped onto its roof in a crash. Two vehicles were involved in the collision on Regent Road (A57), close to the roundabout, on Monday (August 29).
The westbound carriageway heading out of Manchester was temporarily blocked off, with police, paramedics and the fire service in attendance. Pictures from the scene show the white van had flipped onto its roof, with a black BMW with a badly damaged rear also closeby.
The incident happened shortly before 5.30pm, with Transport for Greater Manchester warning drivers of heavy congestion in the area as diversions were put in place. The fire service said that the crash also involved 'street furniture'.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “This evening one crew from Salford fire station attended Regent Road, Salford, in response to a call at around 5.30pm about a road traffic collision involving two vehicles and street furniture. One of the vehicles was on its roof.
“The crew was quickly at the scene, and firefighters worked alongside colleagues from North West Ambulance Service and Greater Manchester Police to make the area safe. Firefighters were in attendance for just under half an hour.”
The van was later transported away from the scene on a recovery vehicle. Further details about the nature of the crash are not yet known. Greater Manchester Police have been approached for more information.
