2024 Britain’s Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas could be taking to the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom according to bookies. Sydnie, 28, wowed viewers at home over the weekend when she was crowned winner of this year’s Britain's Got Talent after amassing a whopping 27% share of the public vote on Sunday, 2 May’s episode of the show. And now the Somewhere Over The Rainbow singer could be set to swap her microphone for her dancing shoes according to bookies, who have tipped her to land a place on the popular BBC One show.
Following her time on BGT, bookmakers have given her odds of 7/1 to appear on Strictly Come Dancing later this year, with 9/1 odds of appearing in the Celebrity Big Brother house next year. Despite her jaw-dropping vocals, Sydnie was hit by accusations of a ‘fix’ by some viewers who claimed that giving her the last spot on the show meant that she would end up with the most votes. However, in an exclusive interview with OK!, the singer revealed that she doesn’t agree with those claims.
“It wouldn't have mattered if I'd gone first. I don't know what to say, soul destroying isn't it?,” she said. “It's difficult, it takes it away from how hard the journey was or how rewarding the success is.
They just think that, 'Oh, it's obvious it was given to her.' It really wasn't.
I had to graft. I had to really graft and believe and want. I'm focussing on the people that did support me because I owe it all to them, without them it wouldn't have happened.” The singer also opened up about the nerves she faced while waiting to find out whether she’d won and revealed that she “could have thrown up” as a result of the anticipation.
