Singer Sydnie Christmas burst into floods of tears as she was crowned winner of Britain's Got Talent 2024 in tonight's live final (Sunday, 2 June).
They will now go on to perform in front of members of the Royal Family at the Royal Variety Performance on Friday, 22 November, at the Royal Albert Hall in London. And that’s not the only prize - they also walk away with a huge £250,000 prize pot.
"I don't know what to say," she told Declan Donnelly after the announcement. "I cannot believe the amount of love I've felt.
I am overwhelmed with love and it’s the most amazing thing and I wish every person in this room feels the way I do with this love, it’s amazing, thank you so much.” The young singer's earlier rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow left head judge Simon Cowell feeling "very emotional". Speaking after her performance, he said: "“That was really something special, that lyric felt so personal to you about what you must have wanted over the years with a god-given talent like that and for whatever reason you’ve been ignored.
“I actually felt very emotional.” Amanda Holden also love it, and was drowned out by thunderous applause as she said: “I know how long you have waited for this moment, it was utterly spellbinding and perfect in every way. It was just gold dust.” While there could only be one winner, tonight’s audiences enjoyed performances from Alex Mitchell, Abigail & Afronitaaa, Haribow, Jack Rhodes, Trixy, Northants Sing Out, Sydnie Christmas, Mike Woodhams, Innocent Masuku, The Ssaulabi Performance Troupe and The Trickstars take to the stage.
