Birmingham City CEO Garry Cook has claimed recent results have cost Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney his job.
Rooney was appointed by the Championship club in October after the Blues' board made the surprise decision to sack John Eustace while the club were sixth in the table. Sadly for the ex-United man, performances and results have nose-dived.
The 38-year-old did not taste victory until over a month into his new job when the West Midlands club beat Sheffield Wednesday. Their next victory came in mid December at Cardiff City but this would be Rooney's last as manager.

A winless run of five games over the festive period culminated on New Year's Day as Leeds United beat Rooney's men 3-0 at Elland Road. Following the result, the United legend was jeered by his own supporters before Birmingham announced his departure on Tuesday morning.
In a statement announcing Rooney's firing, Cook said: "We are committed to doing what is necessary to bring success to St. Andrew’s. Unfortunately, Wayne’s time with us did not go as planned and we have decided to move in a different direction.
"The search for a successor begins with immediate effect and we will update supporters when we have further news." Along with Rooney, his assistant Carl Robinson has also left the club.
Birmingham's statement also added: "Despite their best efforts, results have not met the expectations that were made clear at the outset. Therefore, the board feels that a change in management is in the best interests of the football club.
"The club’s board and management are fully aligned and will continue to drive transformation and take bold steps to rebuild Birmingham
