An independent whisky distiller based near Glasgow has once again triumphed at the Scottish Whisky Awards, winning the Gold Medal for the best Scotch globally.
RAER, an independent family-owned distiller from Jackton near Glasgow, has won gold at the Scottish Whisky Awards for the second time in a row. The RAER Pedro Ximenez Expression won the Gold Medal this year, with RAER's Oloroso Expression taking the award home in 2022.
According to the whisky experts, the winning drink is noted for its "unique profile, offering a luxurious combination of bold, oaky richness, and sumptuous candied sherry flavours, expertly blended to create a harmonious and sophisticated drinking experience".
Despite RAER only opening back in 2019, this distillery is already renowned for creating Scotch whiskies, using new and innovative aging and blending techniques.
"The Scottish Whisky Awards is a benchmark of excellence, and winning the Gold Medal, again, is a testament to our unwavering commitment to quality," said Jaynie Kean, Director at RAER.
"The RAER Pedro Ximénez Expression is a harmonious blend that combines the richness of first fill Pedro Ximénez casks with the distinctive character of RAER’s Original Blend. This award is a recognition of our team's passion and dedication."
Other winners included Lagg Distillery, based on the Isle of Arran for Scottish Whisky Distillery of the Year, and North Star Spirits won the Independent Bottler of the Year.
