Strictly Come Dancing star Lauren Oakley has responded to the outpouring of messages about her appearance following the show's Halloween special. The professional dancer is currently competing for the first time in the BBC One dance contest after joining the programme last year.
Lauren is paired with Channel 4 news presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy and over the weekend the pair performed a Viennese waltz as Jekyll and Hyde in a dance which looked "menacing", according to presenter Tess Daly, as the pair donned elaborate costumes.
Craig Revel Horwood said that the dance lacked “flow”, but he said he loved the characterisation and the couple were awarded 27 points out of a possible 40 and then during Sunday night's results show, Krishnan and Lauren sailed through to week seven of the competition.

But ahead of their next stint in the ballroom, Lauren took to social media to address some comments she had been receiving about her look during last weekend's show.
"Alllll the comments on my long hair last week saying I ‘should’ have long hair. I’m good thanks," she typed, adding a smiley face emoji. She continued: "Girls don’t have to have long hair to feel pretty. Boys don’t have to have short hair to feel handsome. Nobody has to be a certain way! Just make yourself happy."
She then later followed up her post by sending another message on X, formerly known as Twitter, which said: "Not annoyed or offended by the hair comments ps. Just a polite reminder to have confidence in yourself!"
And fans were quick to show their support.
