Strictly Come Dancing star Kai Widdrington has defended his partner Angela Rippon, 79, amid 'fix' claims after the pair were saved from the dreaded dance off on Sunday night's pre-recorded results show.
Angela, who is the series' oldest ever contestant, was up against BBC competition favourite Krishnan Guru-Murthy and his partner Lauren Oakley, who were subsequently sent home.
It was the second time Angela was saved after being placed in the bottom two, with many fans of the show blasting it was a 'fix' due to the judges having a bias towards her due to her age - with some saying she gets the 'pity' vote each week.
Head judge Shirley Ballas said she would have opted to save Channel 4 newsreader Krishnan, due to picking up on Angela 'slipping' during her routine, which the other judges dismissed as being a minor issue, as writes the Mirror.
One fan fumed: "#StrictlyComeDancing. What does it take to get Angela R and her leg out of Strictly. Krishnan you were robbed."
As someone else added: "It should be down to the public vote. Not these so called experts !! Wrong decision again #StrictlyComeDancing."
Following the backlash at the decision, Angela discussed her dance off routine during an appearance on spin-off show It Takes Two on Tuesday night when she was pressed on her performance by host Fleur East.

She said: "The dance was quite different from anything we've done before. People expect it to be a strong dace with a strong body and technical footwork, but there's passionate and timing and that's what we sort of cracked."
