BBC EastEnders fans rumble George's parents 'dark secret' after adoption bombshell

Since first arriving on our screens last Summer, it’s safe to say that George Knight hasn’t had the easiest time in EastEnders after finding out his wife, Rose Knight, was actually Cindy Beale all along. Yet while he appeared to have been able to take the revelation in his stride, one truth that may break the famed boxer completely is the news that his adoptive parents had been paid to take him in.
Earlier this week, George’s parents Gloria and Eddie arrived in Albert Square where they revealed the truth behind his adoption and explained that he had been “farmed” out by his biological family and handed to white parents to raise him. Blindsided by the news, George tentatively managed to hold it together as he processed the news with a heart-to-heart with his mum, but a further bombshell would later follow when it was revealed on Thursday’s episode that George was actually of African descent, not Jamaican as he had always believed.
In an emotional chat, Gloria revealed that she had previously met his birth father before his adoption, as his mother was too upset to surrender her child to them. In heartbreaking scenes, George tearfully listened to his mum’s confession as she revealed that his biological parents had initially paid them monthly to take care of him, before the money stopped for reasons she claimed she was unaware of.
Reeling from this piece of information George questioned why his birth parents had never sought to take him back, prompting an empathetic Gloria to confess she had no idea, however she did admit she believed some “crisis” must have happened to keep them from him.
