EastEnders' Suki Panesar has been a key character since she joined the BBC soap in 2020 with her four children. She's been at the heart of many storylines, including her affair with Eve and ongoing drama with Nish, not to mention the infamous Christmas murder spectacular at the end of 2023. But EastEnders isn't the only soap that Balvinder Sopal, who plays Suki, has starred in – she's actually appeared in all four major UK soaps over the years, as well as Doctors.
Yet despite her experience in soapland, fans are only just realising she didn't find fame solely through EastEnders. Before landing her role as Suki, Balvinder had smaller parts in Hollyoaks, Coronation Street and Emmerdale, as well as other TV shows. On Facebook, one surprised fan said: "Wow I didn't even know what else she'd been in," while another said: "I didn't know she'd been in all of the soaps." A third person commented: "I never knew she was in so many! Great actress!" while a fourth added: "Didn't know she was in all these soaps.
Love Suki." A fifth heaped on praise, simply saying: "She's everywhere. She's brilliant." In 2009, Balvinder popped up in Emmerdale as a legal aid solicitor, and then returned in 2014 to play a police officer. In 2018, she was back in Emmerdale again, this time arresting Debbie Dingle over Ross Barton's acid attack.
That same year, she also appeared in Hollyoaks as a social worker helping Courtney and her baby Iona.
Over on Corrie, Balvinder played a police officer between 2013 and 2017, sharing scenes with Jason Grimshaw and later, Rita Sullivan. Aside from these roles, viewers might recognise Balvinder from elsewhere. In 2018, she appeared in heartbreaking episode of Call The Midwife in 2018, as Mumtaz Gani.
