EastEnders fans desperate to see couple reunite ahead of Ben Mitchell exit

Max Bowden will bow out of the BBC soap EastEnders in March 2024, with his character Ben Mitchell seemingly heading to prison for fraud. In the episode that aired on Tuesday 26 March, Ben was arrested for fraud that he committed in America.
The officer who put Ben in cuffs said: "There’s an international warrant out for you. I’m arresting you for fraud.
Allegedly committed on your trip to the United States last year. You do not have to say anything but anything you do say may be given in evidence." Ben’s husband, Callum Highway (Tony Clay) - who is also a police officer - was horrified and, in the following episode out on Wednesday 27 March, refused to see him. But fans are hoping the pair reunite before Ben ends up behind bars.
On social media one viewer wrote: “they better give Ballum a goodbye #eastenders ”. Another wrote: “Oh dear looks like Callum is done with Ben”. But another retorted: “Callum will never be done with Ben, he knows it, we know it, you know it”.
But a third added: “I hear divorce bells Not that I blame Callum to be honest”. After Ben’s arrest, Callum refused to visit him, leaving it up to Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) to take Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown) to see him. However after a heart-to-heart from Ben’s dad, Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), Callum changed his mind.
He raced to the police station with Jay where Ben’s lawyer told them Ben had been “taken to the cells” after not making bail.
The ‘doof doof’ of the evening as credits rolled was the lawyer telling Callum: “Ben ain’t coming home”.
