Charity calls for new Pension Credit strategy to help more older people claim £3,500 income top-up

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) recently said that an estimated 850,000 older people on a low income could be eligible for an annual top-up of around £3,500 through Pension Credit - and the next cost of living payment worth £300. The DWP announced earlier this week that payments for the second part of the £900 cost of living payment will be made between October 31 and November 19, 2023.

Chvrches have celebrated the 10th anniversary of their debut album by sharing new versions of their first two singles and hosting a live premiere of one of their 2013 concerts.The Scottish trio are currently underway with marking a new milestone in their career – celebrating 10 years since they first shared their debut album ‘The Bones Of What You Believe’.To mark the occasion, the three-piece – consisting of Lauren Mayberry, Martin Doherty and Iain Cook – have shared both a live recording and remastered version of their debut songs ‘Lies’ and ‘The Mother We Share’. This marks the first two of five previously unshared live versions of their songs, all of which will appear in their upcoming 10th Anniversary Edition of the record.The lead single was first shared online in May 2012 and was soon followed by the latter – a track that went on to help catapult the band into the limelight.

Bill Ryder-Jones has shared his latest single ‘This Can’t Go On’ and has announced his upcoming LP ‘Lechyd Da’.Serving as the lead single to Jones’ fifth studio album, ‘This Can’t Go On’ features strings lifted from a 1978 Flashlight song. Directed by James Slater, the video for the track sees a young schoolboy walking through Crail, Fife in Scotland. DWP confirms major PIP change due to start next year for people making a new claim

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has announced that people in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be able to apply for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) entirely online from next year. New claims for PIP have been replaced in Scotland by Adult Disability Payment and are no longer processed by the DWP.
