Asda has announced a fresh wave of price cuts across more than 400 household staples.
The supermarket giant has confirmed that it has invested £23million to lower the cost of 425 branded and own-branded products by an average of 11 per cent both in-store and online.
Available from today (August 24), the latest round of price drops from Asda covers some of the most popular products bought by customers each week, including nappies, infant follow on milk, bread, cheese, cereals, pasta, fish fingers, sausages and chicken breasts.
It is the second time in the past month that Asda has dropped its prices for its shoppers, as it dropped 226 household grocery staples and essentials by an average of 9 per cent in July.
The move comes after Asda's latest Income Tracker shows that family budgets remain under pressure from rising living costs, despite food inflation dropping to 12.7 per cent in August.
Kris Comerford, Asda’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: "While the headline inflation rate may have eased slightly last month, our own data tells us that many customers are continuing to struggle with rising living costs.
"We have targeted this latest price investment on the products that our customers buy week-in and week-out, to help their shopping budgets stretch further.
"We’re also continuing to work closely with our suppliers and whenever there is an opportunity to pass on commodity price savings to customers we will do so."
Asda isn't the only supermarket to announce a fresh wave of price cuts recently. Iceland slashed the cost of 500 items last month, while Morrisons dropped its prices for the fifth time this year in June.
