With the upcoming launch of the iPhone 15, Apple's operating system will also get a swishy new upgrade.
Apple's iOS17 software is set to be released in the upcoming weeks free of charge. The new operating system will see a swathe of improvements from messaging upgrades to the new Personalised Contact Posters feature.
It is expected to launch soon as Apple recently confirmed its usual September iPhone launch event with iOS 17 to follow shortly after. However, not everyone will be eligible to get the upgrade. Some older devices will be left off the list.
iOS 17 was announced back in June and is currently being tested before it is officially pushed out to millions of iPhones. September 12 is the date the iPhone 15 will be shown to the world and Mirror Online predicts iOS 17 will be available on Monday, September 18.
It's an exciting release but sadly, not everyone with an iPhone currently running iOS16 will get access to iOS 17. If you own an iPhone 8 or iPhone X you're going to need to upgrade your device to get iOS 17.
More details about the new software is still to be released but Apple has announced a few features of iOS 17.
Changes in this upcoming release include Personalised Contact Posters which appear when you make a call. These can be fully customised to suit your tastes with colours and font adaptable. That means iPhone users can choose what pops up on your screen when you call your friends.
The Messages app is improved thanks to a less cluttered look and the addition of Check In which sends an instant text when you arrive home safely so friends know you are OK.
Then there's a new StandBy mode that makes your iPhone more useful when it's sat on your desk with clocks, photo albums and calendars displayed on the screen.
