Ant and Dec teased Prince Charles during The Prince's Trust Awards, which was broadcast to ITV for the very first time on Thursday evening. The Geordie duo, both aged 46, introduced the Prince of Wales, 73, to the stage at the start of the special programme where they revealed the "hilarious" greeting he uses for them.
Dec said: "Please be upstanding and welcome the Founder and President of The Prince’s Trust, His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales." To which Ant joked: "Welcome Your Royal Highness, what is it he says when he sees us two?" With Dec replying: "Oh, it's brilliant, it's hilarious! He puts on this really disappointed face and then he goes: 'Oh, not you two again!' It's hilarious." To which Ant quipped: "That's it, it's classic HRH bants" as the camera panned to a laughing Prince of Wales.
At the end of the awards, the Prince of Wales gave a moving speech as he thanked Ant and Dec for everything that they do. At first, he joked: "I must say, having sat through the event and discovered a great deal more about what happens when it's televised...
I'm now slightly anxious in case I become a commercial break without realising." Prince Charles added: "I'm enormously grateful to Ant and Dec, they've been so loyal and devoted over all these years. I don't know how they do it but we're very luck to have them, is all I can say!" The Awards honour the success of young people who are supported by The Prince’s Trust, whilst showcasing their incredible accomplishments.
