Aldi customers have been warned that they could be being charged more than they expect due to an issue with self-checkout machines.
Some customers claim that a number of offers that should have reduced the price of their shop were not added to their receipts when using the self-checkouts. People are being advised to call a staff member who can help manually check and add that the proper promotional deals have been applied before checkout.
Discounts in Aldi stores are generally applied by staff, with the supermarket chain saying that the overall feedback for its self-service checkouts was "overwhelmingly positive". But it advises customers who feel they have been overcharged to contact its customer service team.

It comes following a report from The Mirror that Aldi shoppers have been complaining over the issue on Facebook. Teresa Ashman wrote: “Just a share, if you have self checkout stores near you, avoid using if you are buying reduced products, the checkouts don’t automatically pick up the discounted prices, a Store Assistant needs to input a code for each reduced item.”
Lead Blankley replied in the comments: “The manned till checkouts don’t detect the discounts anyway, it’s done by the cashier.” Another shopper, Tim Hill, also claimed he had a problem with the self-checkouts, writing: “My local Aldi just installed self-checkouts.
"When I checked my receipt the checkout charged me full price for raspberries that had a 30 per cent reduction. Does this mean self-checkout tills do not recognise reduced ticket items?”
