An accountant has pleaded guilty to defrauding a wholesale fashion company out of over £300,000. Laurence Hearldon, 39, was employed by Sanjeev 1979 Ltd, also known as Influence Fashion, based in Cheetham Hill.
Over the course of three years, it was said he abused his position as a senior management clerk in the accounts department to transfer various payments to himself, rather than the company.

"The defendant did confess to doing so and was let go from the company," prosecutor Moryam Mushaki told JPs.
Hearldon, from Salford, has since paid back the company £43,000, and the insurance has reimbursed them to the tune of £190,000, Ms Mushaki added. £100,000 remains outstanding, the court heard.
Indicating a guilty plea to an offence of fraud by abuse of position, Hearldon was told the case was too serious to be dealt with by magistrates and the case was sent to the Crown Court for sentence. No representations were made by the defence.
Hearldon, of Whimsberry Close, will be sentenced on February 21 at Manchester Crown Court, following the preparation of presentence reports. He was granted unconditional bail until the next hearing.
