EXCLUSIVE: Netflix is exploring more nightmarish roommates.
The streamer has ordered a second season of Worst Roommate Ever, the docuseries that debuted in 2022.
The docuseries returns with more harrowing tales of seemingly harmless roommates turning into real-life nightmares for their unsuspecting victims when their malevolent and sometimes violent intentions are revealed. These unsettling true stories chronicle the masked menace that can be lurking right down the hall.
The series returns with four episodes on June 26. It comes from Blumhouse Television and ITV America and is directed by Cynthia Childs. Jason Blum, Gretchen Palek, Jeremy Gold, Scoop Wassterstein, Mary Lisio, Jordana Hochman and Childs are exec producers.
It comes after the first season performed well when it launched at the start of 2022.
The first season, which was directed by Domini Hofmann, covered stories including a woman known as Dorothea Puente who ran a boarding house, the disappearance of college student Maribel Ramos and the detectives focus on her roommate, charismatic athlete and fraudster Youssef Khater and serial squatter Jamison Bachman.
Blumhouse first acquired the rights to a New York magazine article, Worst Roommate Ever, written by William Brennan, in 2018. It told the story of Bachman.
Gretchen Palek, Head of Alternative, Blumhouse Television, said, “After seeing the response and incredible success of the first season of Worst Roommate Ever, which reached the Top 10 list in over 60 countries, we are proud to bring a new season of unbelievable stories and cautionary tales to a global audience.”
