A woman who had a panic attack in Asda after her cards were declined has praised the “angel” who paid for her shopping.
Caron Campbell was left crying at the tills after her gift card didn’t work and her bank card was declined.
The 46-year-old, who struggles with anxiety, had a panic attack which turned into an angina attack.
Caron told the Liverpool Echo she “didn’t know what to do” until an “angel came from nowhere” to assist her.
A kind-hearted customer not only helped to calm Caron, but also paid for her shopping at the Asda store in St Helens, Merseyside.
Caron said: “Sometimes I find things hard anyway but when my card was declined the queue was getting bigger and I could feel the panic rising, it was awful.
“I started to get really upset because I didn’t know what to do. I had a horrible panic attack and I have stress induced angina so it brought that on, it was horrendous.
“But a lovely lady came over to me and I get emotional thinking about it but she gave me a big hug and made sure I was okay and paid for my shopping.
“It was £15 so not just a couple of pound and she stayed to comfort me. She said she was upset seeing me in that state and kept hugging me, she wouldn’t let me pay her back just said pass the kindness on.
"I don’t know what I’d have done if she didn’t help me. I was crying, shaking, in a mess. I wanted to find her to thank her properly, I don’t think a lot of people would be that kind seeing someone in that state but she was absolutely lovely.
"She’s like an angel, I don’t know where she came from. I keep crying thinking about how much she helped me.”

Stuart Miller In days of yore, the best opportunity for a stand-up comedian to break out was to be tapped by Johnny Carson’s team for a “Tonight Show” slot. Getting invited to the couch afterward was a whole other level.
