Louisa Clein gripped the nation as she portrayed predatory teacher Maya Stepney on Emmerdale. Maya had been grooming student — and the son of her ex-boyfriend — Jacob Gallagher for months, finally being arrested in dramatic scenes However, Louisa left the soap in May 2019 after just 14 months in the role.The 44 year old made her acting debut in Judge John Deed in 2001, and went on to appear in BBC shows including Doctors, Casualty, New Tricks and Midsomer Murders.
She also had a recurring role in Holby City as drug addict Kim, who left her son Parker in the care of nurse Essie. Since departing Emmerdale, Louisa has taken to the stage, and has been appearing in several productions up and down the UK.
Earlier this year, the actress starred in the thriller A Murder Has Been Arranged, alongside fellow Emmerdale veteran Deena Hope, who played Viv Hope for almost 20 years. In behind-the-scenes snaps the star shared on Instagram, she looked completely different after swapping her curly blonde locks for a dark brunette up-do.
Last year, Louise was one of the seven celebrities who starred in BBC Two programme Pilgrimage. She was accompanied by interior designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, cricketer Monty Panesar, former The Apprentice star Nick Hewer, Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt, comedian Shazia Mirza and Paralympian Will Bayley.
