A woman has been hauled to court and ordered to pay £1,000 over her dog's 'excessive barking'.
Susana Johnston, 46, was found to be continuing to allow her dog to bark despite being served with a noise abatement notice, Wales Online reports. The barking was 'excessive and unreasonable', an investigation by environmental health officers found.
The noise from the animal was having a detrimental impact on Johnston's neighbours, in Cwmbran in South Wales, and was affecting their sleep and right to peaceful enjoyment of their property. Johnston was also found to have failed to take reasonable steps to prevent this and when questioned by officers, was unable to provide satisfactory reasons for the disturbances.

On March 20, at Cwmbran Magistrates' Court, Johnston accepted her dog continued to bark excessively, causing a nuisance after the notice had been served at her previous address at St Arvan's Road, Southville, Cwmbran. She pleaded guilty to a breach of the specified conditions between May 31, 2023, and November 7, 2023.
Johnston, now of Greenmeadow, Cwmbran, was convicted of an offence under the Environmental Protection Act. She was ordered to pay £1,000 towards the council's prosecution costs as well as a victim surcharge of £26.
The council said the outcome in court was 'successful'. Councillor Mandy Owen, executive member for environment, said: "This case serves as a reminder of the negative impact noise pollution can have on the wellbeing of residents.
"It is the responsibility of dog ownership to manage the behaviour of their dog or dogs to avoid causing problems including preventing them from making excessive noise. I would

While the Oscar winner did not cite any movies by name, she did reveal that she was once required to kiss a handful of men in order for the team behind the film to find her the perfect co-star. “Back in the 2000s — and this did happen to me — it was considered normal to ask an actor to make out with other actors to test for chemistry, which is actually the worst way to do it,” Hathaway said.
