A woman has been taken to hospital after allegedly being bitten in the face by a 'bulldog'.
Officers from Police Scotland were called to reports of an attack in the Silvertrees area of Bothwell at around 10.40am on Friday, February 9.
An investigation to establish the circumstances remains ongoing.
Bothwell Post Office issued an alert to dog owners in the area - claiming that the woman was trying to save her puppy.
They said: “A bulldog/bully type dog got off its owner’s leash and attacked a puppy. Whilst trying to separate the dogs, the owner of the puppy was bitten in the face.

“This happened around the Silvertrees area. Please be careful and alert all dog owners in the area.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.40am on Friday, February 9, we were made aware of a woman being attacked by a dog in the Silvertrees area of Bothwell.
“The woman attended at hospital for treatment. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
