A yellow thunderstorm warning is in place today (Saturday) covering the whole of Greater Manchester. Thunder and lightning is set to hit the region later this afternoon, with torrential rain also expected.
Temperatures were in the high 20s yesterday evening, with pleasant sunshine all around. Today started off in a similar vein but will turn as we head into the afternoon.
According to the Met Office, thunderstorms will hit the region from 1pm and are likely to continue until 3pm. Temperatures will start to drop to around 20C.

After 3pm there is set to be dry spells interrupted by showers before stormy conditions return again in the evening. From 6pm to 8pm, thunderstorms are forecast to return across the region.
The Met Office says on the thunderstorms: "Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected on Saturday, during the morning mainly over parts of England before becoming mainly focused over northern England and Scotland by late afternoon/evening. Some intense downpours are likely and whilst rainfall accumulations will vary from place to place, as much as 50 mm of rain could fall in a short space of time in some locations. Hail, lightning and gusty winds will be additional hazards."
In Manchester thunderstorms are forecast around 2pm before a dry spell after this. But, thunderstorms are set to return from 5pm for more than three hours.
