Whaley Bridge murder investigation update issued following shooting during farm 'burglary'

A man arrested on suspicion of murder after a teenager was shot dead during a suspected burglary at a farm in the High Peak has been released on bail.
Marcus Smith, 19, was found with fatal gunshot wounds after police were called to a report of a break-in at the farm on Eccles Road near Whaley Bridge at around 1.20am in the early hours of Wednesday (May 1).
Another teenager was found with a gunshot wound nearby. He was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. He was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A man in his 50s was also arrested on suspicion of murder; and attempted murder. In an update issued this morning, (Saturday, May 4) Derbyshire Police said he had now been bailed as investigations into the incident continue.
Three people arrested in connection with the alleged burglary have also now been bailed, the force added.
A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary after the vehicle he was travelling in was stopped on the A6 in Chapel-en-le-Frith last Wednesday.
A man in his 30s was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary whilst another man in his late teens, was arrested on Friday on suspicion of assisting an offender.
