A third man has been arrested by officers investigating a burglary in the High Peak during which two men were shot. One man died and another was seriously injured in the incident Whaley Bridge, close to the Derbyshire border with Greater Manchester, in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday, May 1).
Derbyshire Police said they were alerted to reports of a break-in on Eccles Road in the town at around 1:20am. When they arrived they discovered a man had died. They have now confirmed he had suffered fatal gunshot wounds.
A second man was also found with a gunshot wound nearby in the same road. He is currently in hospital being treated for serious injuries. He has also been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary the force said.

A murder investigation has been launched with a man having been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. He remains in custody for questioning.
