Two teenage boys arrested after a 65-year-old man was attacked at a bus station have been released on bail, police have confirmed.
The 'defenceless' victim was left fighting for his life following the 'sickening' incident at Stockport Interchange on Tuesday evening (April 23). Two 14-year-old boys were later arrested on suspicion of assault and taken into custody for questioning, Greater Manchester Police said on Thursday.
In an update, the force said the man remained in hospital in a critical condition. He hasn't been named.

A spokesperson for GMP today confirmed that the two boys had since been released on bail.
Officers were called to reports of the attack at the newly-opened interchange at about 9.45pm on Tuesday. They found the man seriously injured and he was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
Detective Inspector Shifa Chowdhury, of GMP, said: "This was an horrific attack that has left the victim in hospital with serious injuries. Our enquiries have been swift since the incident including an extensive review of CCTV to identify and trace those we believe responsible.
"We'd also like to thank members of our community who have been in touch following our appeal with vital pieces of evidence. Making Stockport a place where people feel safe is a priority and working together we will protect this important space.
