Heavy rain and winds of around 40mph are set to hit Greater Manchester later today, with a yellow weather warning in place from this afternoon.
A Met Office precipitation map shows when the downpours are set to hit our region, with heavy showers expected to fall from around 3pm. After a mostly settled morning, forecasters predict rain will batter much of Greater Manchester all afternoon and until around 11pm this evening.
Strong gusts will build from about 5pm, before reaching speeds of around 42mph in our region at around 8pm. The Met Office yellow weather warning for wind comes in from 3pm.

The warning covers parts of Wigan, as well as much of Wales and the South West. It will be in place until 3am tomorrow morning.
In the areas covered by the warning, forecasters predict there will be some disruption due to the strong winds with delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport likely.
Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges are likely, with some power cuts also expected. In the parts of the UK that aren't covered by the warning, wet and windy weather is still forecast as a developing low-pressure system sweeps over.
Deputy chief meteorologist Steven Keates said: "The focus for the medium-range forecast is a low-pressure system that’s likely to develop just to the southwest of the UK, potentially bringing a period of high winds and heavy rain late on Tuesday and into Wednesday.
"There’s a distinct possibility of some disruptive wind for parts of the UK, especially in southern and western areas, as well as potential for heavy rainfall and even some snow, though the latter probably confined
