Brent Lang Executive Editor Roadside Attractions has acquired North American rights to “Accidental Texan,” a comedy about a Harvard grad and actor stranded in the “Lone Star State” where he stumbles into the role of lifetime. The film, which stars Thomas Haden Church and Rudy Pankow, will open in theaters on March 8, 2024. According to the official plot description, “Accidental Texan” kicks off when Erwin (Pankow), a recent Ivy League student, flames out of his first professional acting gig when he forgets to turn off his phone and triggers an explosive nightmare on set.

Metallica have announced the official winners of their first ever ‘For Whom the Bell Tolls’ marching band competition.The band launched the contest last April, with over 450 US colleges and high schools applying to enter.Bands were challenges to create “their most exciting, unique and impressive performances of some of the band’s most beloved songs”, with the band supplying them with musical charts of songs including ‘Enter Sandman’, ‘Master of Puppets’, ‘Fade to Black’ and others.The band chose the winners themselves in a number of categories, based on the school age groups. Plans to progress a new £24 million primary school for Craigshill in Livingston are expected to be approved next week. Education Executive are being asked to back plans that would begin the formal consultation process which is legally required to create a new primary school, at their meeting on Tuesday 16 January 2024.
