The National have shared a new single featuring Phoebe Bridgers – listen to ‘Your Mind Is Not Your Friend’ below.The melancholic piano-led song serves as the fourth and final preview of the band’s ninth album ‘First Two Pages Of Frankenstein’, which is due for release on April 28 (pre-order here).“Don’t you understand?/ Your mind is not your friend again/ It takes you by the hand/ And leaves you nowhere,” frontman Matt Berninger croons as Bridgers delivers a haunting backing vocal in unison.Per a press release, the single “confronts the entanglements of the habitual mind and the overwhelming nature of scrutiny”, and emerged during a period of writer’s block for Berninger.‘Your Mind Is Not Your Friend’ is accompanied by a nostalgic official video, which was directed by Bridgers’ brother Jackson. Filmed in Los Angeles, the clip stars Berninger’s brother Tom – tune in above.Recently, Matt Berninger opened up about how the single’s title and lyrics had been inspired by the advice his wife Carin Besser had given him as he battled depression.

Depeche Mode have announced the acts that will be joining them as support on their upcoming ‘Memento Mori’ tour.Announced today (April 12), the band – which is comprised of Martin Gore and Dave Gahan – shared the five acts that will be joining them for their string of tour dates across the continent and the UK later this year.The update was shared on Instagram, where the iconic duo announced that Cold Cave and Young Fathers would be among the names joining them throughout their 34 upcoming shows.Other newly-announced artists joining them include Berlin-based band Hope, former Savages singer turned solo star Jehnny Beth and British trip-hop band Haelos.The European leg of the tour kicks off next month with two performances in the Netherlands, taking place on May 16 and May 18. SZA has announced a string of new tour dates, spanning across the UK, Europe and North America.Having recently finished a series of sold-out tour dates, SZA has revived her ‘SOS’ tour with ten new performances in Europe and twenty-one dates in North America.The second leg of the tour will see the Grammy-winning R&B artist perform at arenas in Amsterdam, Paris, Zurich, Berlin and Cologne, before moving through the UK for four shows. This includes two consecutive nights at London’s O2 Arena.All European dates will take place throughout June and will end with one performance in Dublin’s 3Arena.

Depeche Mode appeared on BBC Radio 2’s Piano Room, where they performed three songs accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra, and spoke to presenter Gary Davies.Performing at BBC’s Maida Vale studios for the first time, the duo – Dave Gahan and Martin Gore – shared versions of ‘Walking In My Shoes’, ‘Ghosts Again’ and a reworking of Gordon Lightfoot’s ‘Sundown’.During the show, Davies played some listener questions, one of which was: “I’m really interested to know if you have your own idol, musically or otherwise?”Gahan replied: “Yeah, I mean straight away, even when you’re saying that sentence, it’s always been and always will be Bowie. Their latest record, ‘The Album’, will be coming out on May 5, and was preceded by its lead single ‘Wings’, which was released on February 24.Alongside the new music, the trio will also be embarking on a tour, which includes a one-night-only mega-show at London’s Royal Albert Hall on April 14 and at New York’s Yankee Stadium on August 12.Taking to the SNL stage, the band performed a choir-backed version of ‘Waffle House’ – their new single, which was released on April 7.“Growing up, we would go to Waffle House after shows, and it became our sanctuary,” the Jonas Brothers said in a statement about the song (via Rolling Stone). “It was the place we dreamt up ideas, the place where we worked through our problems together, and the place where we finally realized we could find our way through anything as long as we came together.”The Jonas Brothers also gave ‘Walls’, which is the closing track on ‘The Album’, its live debut, also backed by a choir.The Jonas Brothers’ last album was 2019’s ‘Happiness Begins’, which included the singles ‘Sucker’, ‘Cool’ and ‘Only Human’.In other news, the Jonas Brothers made a surprise appearance during Lewis Capaldi’s headline show at Radio City Music Hall on Thursday night (April 6).Capaldi was performing in New York ahead of the release of his upcoming second album ‘Broken by Desire to be Heavenly Sent’.

It aired on the radio during the band’s huge North American arena tour behind comeback album ‘Memento Mori’.Asked by the BBC‘s Gary Davies of their memories of recording ‘Walking In My Shoes’ in the early 1990s, Gahan said: “I don’t have many. That’s not a good thing, but I really don’t remember recording that song and it was a particular time when we were all having too much fun outside of work and I guess it caught up with us, but it’s one of those songs that never gets old when you perform it.“It always evolves.

And she was right, kind of: A Depeche Mode concert manages to straddle that line between digging deep into its four-decade catalog and not feeling like a legacy act. That was mostly on display Tuesday night at the Kia Forum, where Depeche Mode played the third date of its brand new “Momento Mori” tour. Depeche Mode have spoken to NME about what The Psychedelic Furs‘ Richard Butler brought to the writing of their upcoming album, ‘Memento Mori’.The synth-pop icons will this week release their long-awaited 15th album ‘Memento Mori’ – marking their first new material since the passing of founding member Andy Fletcher last year.Four of the album’s tracks – with a further two set to be released later this year – feature songwriting credits from Butler. Speaking to NME as part of a recent interview, the band’s chief songwriter Martin Gore explained the significance of this being a “big first” for him.“I’ve never written with anyone outside of the band in our history,” Gore told NME.
