A warning has been issued to Android users as a dangerous app could steal personal banking data.
The urgent warning was issued by the security team at Pradeo after they found the popular application '2FA Authenticator' to be threatening.
Downloading the app allows vicious malware to be installed onto your device.
To make matters worse, the threatening app has actually been advertised as a way to keep mobile phones safe by adding extra layers of security.
Unfortunately, 2FA does the opposite and actually fills your device with a bug named Vultur whose sole aim to to target financial service and steal money by accessing bank accounts set up on your phone.
Google has now banned the app on its Play Store, however those who have previously downloaded the application are being urged to delete it immediately.
Speaking about the threat, Pradeo said: "Pradeo’s researchers discovered a malicious mobile application called 2FA Authenticator distributed on Google Play and installed by 10K+ users.
"We identified the application as a trojan-dropper as it is leveraged by cybercriminals to secretly install malware on users’ mobile devices.
"Our analysis revealed that the dropper automatically installs a malware called Vultur which targets financial services to steal users’ banking information.
"Users of this app are advised to delete it immediately."
