A walker who went missing on the top of Scafell Pike has tragically been found dead, search teams said.
The man became separated from his group at the top of England's highest mountain at around 9.30pm on Saturday evening (October 8). The conditions on the peak were 'very windy, cold and misty', the Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team said.
A huge search operation was launched with mountain rescue workers, the RAF and search dogs all deployed. After a 21-hour search, the man was found in Dropping Crag at around 7pm on Sunday evening.

He sadly had not survived. His body was brought back down to the valley, where police then took over.
In a post on Facebook, the Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team offered condolences to his loved ones and thanked the rescue workers for support. The post said: "We were called by Cumbria Police about a lone walker who had become separated from his friends at the top of Scafell Pike.
"They had not been able to locate him on the descent or in the valley. Wasdale and Duddon and Furness teams searched overnight without success, and the search resumed in the morning, with more resources. We were joined by Duddon and Furness MRT again, Keswick MRT, Cockermouth MRT, and RAF Leeming, plus 2 search dogs. Coniston team were stood down before deployment.
"The walker was found in the early afternoon above Dropping Crag and sadly had not survived. He was brought back down to the valley where he was then cared for by the police.
"Very many thanks to all who helped. We offer our heartfelt sympathies to his family and friends."
