This Morning presenter Alison Hammond left viewers confused on Friday's instalment of This Morning (October 7) as she admitted she had recently been overcharged £10,000 for a car service - and failed to spot it. Hosting the show alongside Dermot O'Leary, the presenter revealed she was charged the eye watering amount as the pair discussed a man being charged £35,000 for a four mile Uber trip.
She told Dermot: "I can't say for certain who it was, but my son's working there now, and I had paid for the service, but I didn't notice they had charged me £10,000 for the service. I had not checked my bank account. They noticed a week later and they rang me up and they said 'look, we have charged you £10,000.' "It was meant to be £1k but they charged me ten thousand. They explained they had overcharged me but I hadn't even noticed.
But that is nice they phoned me back." Viewers took to Twitter in disbelief, with one writing: How out of touch is #ThisMorning. @AlisonHammond - I didn't even notice I was charged £10,000 for my service.
I noticed I was overcharged £5 last week and I was panicking as being disabled I have to stretch any money I get very thin just to live." Another said: "What viewers are you broadcasting for? Everyone financially struggling and you have @alisonHammond not missing £10k from her bank account and a cook making butter platters butter costing £4 a pack. Surly nourishing food made at low cost would be more appropriate." Alison recently celebrated 20 years on This Morning with a surprise from her colleagues Holly Willoughby, Phillip Schofield and Josie Gibson.
