Txiki Begiristain hailed Riyad Mahrez as one of the most exciting wingers in the world as the Manchester City star signed a new deal at the club.
Mahrez, 31, had entered into the final 12 months of his current contract but has agreed fresh terms that keep him at the club until 2025. The former Leicester winger thanked Pep Guardiola and the City coaching staff for helping him to take his game to another level and is aiming for more success in the future.
City are even happier that Mahrez has committed himself to the club given they have lost two experienced forwards in Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus. Mahrez kept both out of the team for large chunks of last season and also stepped up to take over penalty duties and end a longstanding issue for Guardiola.

Begiristain, the club's director of football, hailed the player for his contribution to City's success over the last four years - including three Premier League titles - and looks forward to what lies ahead. “Riyad has played a major part in our success in the four years since he joined us, and we are all delighted he has agreed this new deal," he said.
“He has brought so much to the club with his skill, talent, commitment, and desire to win evident from the moment he first arrived. I also know that Pep and the coaching staff relish working with Riyad.
“He is one of the most exciting wingers operating in the game and we are all very excited to know he will be part of our ongoing drive to try and achieve more success.”
