An inquest has opened into the death of a teenager at the centre of a murder investigation.
Kennie Carter tragically died on Saturday, January 22 after being stabbed in the chest in Stretford.
The 16-year-old died at the Manchester Royal Infirmary after being rushed there from the scene of the stabbing, South Manchester Coroner's Court heard.
Claire Smith, police coroners officer at Greater Manchester Police, told the hearing that Kennie, from Stretford, was identified by his family at the hospital.

A post-mortem carried out on the teenager by consultant pathologist Dr Charles Wilson found he died as a consequence of a stab wound to the chest.
Coroner Chris Morris formally opened and adjourned the inquest.
He said: "I am satisfied an inquest is required into the tragic death of Kennie Carter.
"I formally adjourn the inquest and understand a police investigation is in train."
A pre-inquest review will take place on August 5.
A police investigation into Kennie's death by GMP's Major Incident Team is ongoing.
So far, 13 teenagers have been arrested in connection the stabbing.
The most recent came on February 15, when a 17-year-old boy was from Hulme was arrested on suspicion of murder.
He was released on bail after being quizzed by detectives.
Nine teenagers - aged between 13 and 17 - have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain on bail with conditions.
Three other teenage boys who were arrested have since been eliminated from the inquiry.
Kennie's family described him as a 'cheeky chappy' as they paid tribute to him and urged anyone with information to come forward to the police.
