Blackpool Air Show is back this weekend and thousands of spectators are expected to line the promenade to watch the spectacular aerial displays. An impressive range of aircraft will take to the skies above Blackpool Tower on August 12 and 13 during the family-friendly event.
Among them will be the iconic Red Arrows. Flying in their distinctive Hawk fast-jets, the pilots from the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team will demonstrate their skills with a mesmerising display.
Known for their close formations and precision flying, the team is made up of pilots, engineers and essential support staff with frontline, operational experience. On both Saturday and Sunday the Red Arrows will perform in the air show at 2pm, although the exact timing can be subject to change.

Squadron Leader Tom Bould, Team Leader of the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team and Red 1, said: “Displaying at Blackpool is always one of the highlights of any busy summer for the Red Arrows. With the Tower in sight and the wonderful coastline stretching out before you, Blackpool is a location which really excites you as a display pilot.
“One of the key aims of the Red Arrows is to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds through a dynamic demonstration of teamwork and precision. This is another reason why Blackpool Air Show is a great event for us – it attracts tens of thousands of people, many of whom are families, and it’s wonderful to know so many are watching and enjoying our new display.”
Visitors can also have the chance to get up close and personal with a life-size replica of the iconic Hawk jet at the Air Show Village, located on the Tower Festival Headland.
