There's a question I've been asking myself this week - and I think it is one I cannot answer.
I am at this moment sat in my childhood bedroom in Bristol, where I am visiting family. Everything about this city is so achingly familiar - the glow in the dark stars stuck to the ceiling I slept under from age 4 to 19, the soft incline of the ever-changing high street, the roads where I rode my bike and learned to drive.
In many ways, Bristol will always be home. But, nearly six years after I first moved to Manchester, it also feels a place that is growing and changing without me - just as I grow and change somewhere else.

So many of us in Manchester will contend with this discord - our hearts split across two places, our childhoods and adult lives sharply severed by geography. When I come back to Manchester, it feels like home. But I didn't grow up here and am sometimes left asking - what does it mean to be a Mancunian?
I have never forgotten the day I was driven back to my student house in Fallowfield by the mum of my university friend, who grew up in Oldham, after spending the night at her family home supporting her through a particularly nasty breakup. As she dropped me at my door, she told me I was an 'honorary Manc' - a kindness I think of regularly.
I may not be from here, but I think there is more than one way to embody Manchester. Six years on from leaving Bristol, Manchester is home. Maybe that is enough.
My question is one that can be answered in a light-hearted sense by our Mancunian citizenship quiz, where you can test your local knowledge and see if you've earned the right to call yourself a native of our city.
