Scotland is to be pelted with torrential rain this evening as forecasters issue a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms.
Several areas will be hit by stormy conditions - including hail and lightning - starting southeast from Glasgow, stretching to beyond Aberdeen and as far northeast to Fraserburgh on Tuesday.
According to the Met Office, bursts of heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely to move northwards across Scotland from 4pm until 11pm.
These may bring 60mm of rain in a few hours, while risks of potential hail could affect driving conditions, resulting in disruptions on the road.
Rain and thunderstorms are expected to move northwards overnight then ease and clear early on Wednesday morning.
The Met Office have also warned that parts of the country could see flashing lightening, which may cause damage to some structures as well as causing power outages.
If you are out driving while lightening strikes, experts recommend that you remain in your vehicle and wind up your windows, as the metal frame will act as a conductive Faraday cage, passing the current around passengers inside and on to the ground.
Thunderstorms can also bring a risk of sudden gusty winds, those most at risk would include cyclists, motorcyclists and high sided vehicles.
Hail storms can be extremely dangerous to drive in reducing your ability to see and be seen. If you get caught driving in one, it is advised that you stop driving, pull over and wait until the storm subsides.
