Queen's lying-in-state queue reaches final day and could close ‘within hours’

Queen Elizabeth II was laid to rest on Monday 19 September following a moving State Funeral at Westminster Abbey. Her Majesty’s final resting place was St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle where her body was reunited with her beloved husband, Prince Philip in a private ceremony featuring just the Royal Family.

On the day of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, many people who spectated the event are asking: Why isn’t Prince Andrew wearing his uniform?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been "uninvited" to a state reception hosted by King Charles III – Harry's father and the new reigning Monarch. It's understood that the couple initially received an invite to a state reception for world leaders and foreign royals tomorrow evening, however, it's reportedly now been revoked.The reason being is said to be due to the fact that Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41, are no longer officially working members of the royal family, after they stepped down in 2020.

The Prince Harry and Meghan Markle drama continued into the weekend as it wasn’t clear if the Sussexes would be attending a pre-funeral reception at Buckingham Palace on the eve of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.  The Duke and Duchess of Sussex – who settled in California after stepping down as senior royals in 2020 – reportedly initially received an invitation to the Sunday evening reception, but conflicting reports said they were and weren’t expected to attend.  According to the Telegraph, they have now been uninvited because palace officials insisted that the reception hosted by King Charles III and Camilla, the queen consort, is only for working royals, which Harry and Meghan are not. There were emotional scenes as as Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II embarked on her final journey after a night in St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh, where over 20,000 people came to pay their respects Following her death on 8 September, and as per tradition, the late monarch’s coffin is now to make its way to Westminster Hall for lying in state where members of the public will be able to pay their respects to the Queen.
