Openreach said its engineers are onsite and are expected to work throughout the night to fix the ‘complex and time-consuming’ issue.
A spokesperson for Openreach said: “We’re sorry for the disruption in Carrington, which is affecting broadband in the local area.
“Earlier today, three of our underground cables were badly damaged. Since then, our engineers have been working hard to repair the cables, but it’s a complex and time-consuming job.
“We understand how disruptive it is to be without broadband, so they will keep working overnight to get people reconnected as quickly as possible.”
Vodafone’s website said the issue was also affecting a number of 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G mobile services in the area. The phone operator said: “There’s a problem with our mobile network in this area at the moment that may be causing issues with your service.
“We’re sorry if you’re experiencing any disruption, we know how frustrating this can be. Thanks for your patience.”
