James Trafford predicted his European Under-21 Championship heroics, with the Manchester City star saving a last gasp penalty as England beat Spain 1-0 in the final.
Lee Carsley's side lifted the trophy in Georgia on Saturday evening thanks to Curtis Jones' first-half goal when Cole Palmer's free-kick deflected off the Liverpool midfielder's back and looped into the net.
The young Lions maintained their lead but a VAR review in added time led to a Spain penalty. But Trafford leaped to his right to deny Abel Ruiz before shooting back up and saving the rebound.
"I told everyone this morning that I was going to save a pen and when it was a penalty I knew I was going to save it so it was pretty easy. I told all my mates back home that I was going to save one," he said.

The last-minute heroics capped off an outstanding tournament for Trafford, who played every minute for England and didn't concede a single goal in six games. It's the first time a nation has gone through an entire under-21 Championships without conceding, and Trafford, reportedly on the brink of joining Premier League new boys Burnley, knows the value of that record.
"I'm very happy for the team, for my family and friends and for the coaching staff," Trafford added. "It was a massive group effort and we delivered. This is what we set out for from the start and we achieved it so we’re all really proud of ourselves.
"It means a lot for us, the record, because it will take a massive effort to get broken. But we’re a very good team and we believe no one can score against us and we showed it."
