This Morning has been overlooked for a BAFTA TV Award nomination, while fellow ITV daytime shows Loose Women and Lorraine have both received nominations. Loose Women and Men's special episode has been nominated in the Daytime category, along with Lorraine Kelly's main show. BBC shows Make It At Market and Scam Interceptors have also been recognised alongside the two ITV programmes, reports The Express.
However, This Morning, which recently got a makeover with new permanent hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, was noticeably missing. When Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were at the helm, This Morning won a Special Award from BAFTA back in 2018. The prize was given to celebrate 30 years of the daytime show being on TV and the "continuing success of its creative and innovative approach to daytime television production".
However, both Holly and Phil have since left the show, meaning their on-screen partnership has come to an end. Away from daytime TV, Netflix's The Crown is leading the way at the BAFTAs with eight nominations. Among the nominations for the sixth series, which was released in two parts last year, is Dominic West, who played Charles, then the Prince of Wales, who has been nominated for best leading actor.
Salim Daw, who portrayed Mohamed Al-Fayed, Dodi Fayed's dad, has been nominated for best supporting actor. The series also bagged two nominations in the supporting actress category. Elizabeth Debicki, who played Diana, Princess of Wales, and Lesley Manville, who portrayed Princess Margaret, have both been nominated.
