This Morning's TV studios found an intruder in a huge security scare, just days before the alleged Holly Willoughby 'kidnap plot'. Police were alerted after a man was held by guards for following a young woman into a lift at the production facility in White City, West London, on Thursday, 28 September.
The incident took place at around 5.50am, just ten minutes before Good Morning Britan went live on air and shortly before Holly and Lorraine Kelly were due to arrive for work.
Security guards who work at the location which is operated by BBC Studioworks, notified the police after the woman screamed out in terror. The Sun has reported that staff at the building were sent an email reminding them to wear their ID badges at all times.
A TV source told the publication: "A man snuck into the studios by following a junior female member of ITV staff into the lift, which took him right down to outside the This Morning offices. She was shaken, and security escorted the man out." “Clearly, what happened to Holly has also added to the sense of fear and distress among everyone at ITV.” A spokesperson for BBC Studioworks said: "We’re aware of the incident on 28 September, involving a member of the public entering our facility at Television Centre.
This was an isolated event which our Television Centre security personnel acted swiftly and efficiently to resolve.
"At BBC Studioworks, the safety and well-being of our staff and visitors is our top priority. At Television Centre, we maintain a stringent security protocol, and both visitors and staff are consistently expected to wear identification passes and adhere to our health and safety requirements.
These measures are in place to ensure the safety and security of everyone on our premises.
