The Witcher is coming to an end. The show announced today on X (aka Twitter) that Netflix has picked up a fifth season of the fantasy adaptation, which will be its last.
“It’s official, The Witcher season 4 is in production. But that’s not all, we’re already planning season 5, which will be the final season and bring this epic show to a fitting conclusion. See you on The Continent,” Netflix confirmed.
As we previously reported, Season 4 will feature new lead Liam Hemsworth who takes over the role of Geralt from Henry Cavill who exited at the end of Season 3.
After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire — and finding one another again.
Also, as previously reported, Laurence Fishburne joins the upcoming season as Regis, the fan-favorite character from The Witcher books and games. Introduced in Andrzej Sapkowski’s novel Baptism of Fire, Regis is a world-wise Barber-surgeon with a mysterious past who joins Geralt on his journey in Season 4.
Hemsworth and Fishburne join co-stars Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan and Joey Batey.
The Witcher is executive produced by Steve Gaub, Matt O’Toole, Mike Ostrowski, Javier Grillo-Marxuach, Platige Films (Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko) and Hivemind Content (Jason Brown and Sean Daniel).
