Tucked away among the trees on the water's edge between Urmston and Sale lies a converted shipping container serving up freshly roasted coffees, homemade pies and delicious sweet treats.
Located on the banks of the River Mersey and Trans Pennine Trail in Trafford, Riverbank Coffee was launched as an outdoor coffee shop and cafe during the first lockdown, and quickly became a much-needed escape for both its owners and customers.
A large part of the café's appeal - besides it's idyllic setting and top-notch food and drink - is that it can only be accessed by via stunning woodland and a riverside walk. That's right, cars are strictly forbidden.

Though in truth, this tranquil spot can also be accessed by cyclists, or, as some regulars like to, via paddleboard. So while there may be several bikes parked up at the gates, you might also spot a board or even a canoe carefully wedged into the racks.
Opened in June 2020, Riverbank was the long-term dream of Brian and Jackie Kilcourse, the couple who own the farm on which the coffee shops stands. As the local area became more popular and footpaths along the river being used by many, Jackie began to put the plans into motion that would eventually lead her to make her dream a reality.
The couple decided to join forces with friends Dane and Jennifer Smith, who despite working long hours in the emergency services at the time, were keen to help bring it to life. "I grew up with Brian and Jackie’s daughter and I had horses on this bit of land with them, so I was aware that they always had the perfect spot for it," reflects Jennie.
"We opened in lockdown very much on a whim and Jackie
