A teenager bought a previously-stolen motorbike with his mate and kept it secret from his parents weeks before riding it in a tragic horror crash. Mckenna Leigh, from Denton, picked up his pal outside McDonald's before riding past slow-moving traffic on a busy Tameside road, Stockport Coroners Court heard on Wednesday (October 11).
The 16-year-old, who was an apprentice joiner at Tameside College, was not trained to ride the Honda and was not wearing a helmet when he collided with a Vauxhall Vivaro van. His father told coroner Adrian Farrow that had he known about the secret motorbike, Mckenna 'wouldn't have been allowed out'.
The court heard how Mckenna had a 'passion' for bikes at a young age, using a Yamaha 'pee-wee 50' children's bike on fields at the age of six with his older sister. Yet Mckenna appeared to lose interest in motorcycles as he got older, and he turned down the opportunity to do compulsory basic training for motorbikes at the age of 16.

Mckenna's dad, Darren Smith, told the inquest his son was 'always out on his sister's pushbike' instead. That was the same bicycle Mckenna left the house with at around 11.15am on September 17 last year.
But after leaving the house, Mckenna swapped his sister's bicycle for a Honda 125 motorbike, which he had bought with a friend and kept secret from his family. The motorbike, which did not carry number plates, had been stolen a year earlier in an incident unrelated to Mckenna.
Clare Leigh, Mckenna's mum, said: "He was not allowed

Jem Aswad Executive Editor, Music To put the rather overheated hype around the new Rolling Stones album in superfan-quibbling terms, “Hackney Diamonds” is not their best work since “Some Girls,” released some 45 years ago — but it is their best since “Tattoo You,” which is just three years younger. at home was a matter that I always stressed over until I learned the “one-minute rule.”I consider myself a fairly organized person, and I like to treat my home as a kind of temple of rest.
