During our natter, a confident Andrew, 54, proclaimed that regular customers have told him that the food is so good that it has now ‘ruined pizzas’ for them forever.
Andrew said: “Some people say I’ve ruined pizza for them because anywhere else they go now they try a pizza and go ‘that’s not very good’”.
Putting it to the test, I had the 12 inch Margherita pizza which was a sumptuous blend of tomato sauce, topped with mozzarella cheese, fresh basil and virgin olive oil for good measure. The £11.50 pizza was handcrafted by Andrew himself and stone baked in an impressive pizza oven.
Whether or not I’ll eat another slice that can compare to the Twentymans is yet to be seen, but the pizza is most definitely the best I’ve had in Leigh in all my years of living there. The best compliment I can give is the unrivalled fresh taste of the pizza which is due to the ingredients hailing from Naples.

Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent Luc Besson, the formerly A-list director who rose to the top of the box office with his kinetic action films, had his career derailed by rape accusations leveled against him in 2018 by Sand Van Roy, an actress on his film “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.” The ensuing legal battle consumed five years of Besson’s life, but after being cleared last June of all charges by the Cour de Cassation, the French equivalent to the Supreme Court, he’s re-emerging at this year’s Venice Film Festival with the indie drama “Dogman.” But will the industry work with Besson?
