Losing a beloved pet can be one of the most painful experience that any owner can go through in their lifetime.
After that final goodbye when a pet is put down, animal lovers will experience some of the most raw and unimaginable emotions ever, reports the Mirror.
While some people stay till the very end, and others have to leave the room to say goodbye, one vet has revealed the upsetting thing pets will do before being put down.
On social media, a pet owner shared her vet's response when she asked what the hardest part of his job would be working with animals.
She wrote: "He said when he has to put an animal down 90% of owners don't actually want to be in the room when he injects them so the animal's last moments are usually them frantically looking around for their owners & tbh that broke me."
The woman added: "And for this reason I'm literally gonna be cradling my homeboy Rick when his time comes with all his favorite toys and endless ear scratches at the ready regardless of how distraught I am."
Another social media user, who claims to be a technician at a vet clinic, added more detail into this part of the job on Twitter.
The Twitter user said: "I'd say 80% of owners want to be there! But we give them an injection to make them sleepy first (basically surgically anaesthetised) so the transition is that much smoother.
"And when owners don’t want to be a part of the actual euthanasia, they stay for the sedation part so at least they are with them until they are sleeping. Makes everything so peaceful (well as peaceful as that can be I guess)."
The tweet, which was first shared in 2018, received a strong response from Twitter users, most of which were very upset about this information.
