"All alone now." These were the only three words written by Robert Maudsley in a final letter to a psychiatrist in the 1990s.
Dubbed one of Britain's 'most dangerous prisoners', Maudsley has spent four decades in solitary confinement, locked in a bulletproof glass box below HMP Wakefield in Yorkshire. Dubbed 'Monster Mansion', the category A prison has a long history of holding some of the country's most dangerous criminals.
One of its infamous former inmates was Harold Shipman, considered to be one of the most prolific serial killers in modern history. Before his suicide, the former Tameside GP dubbed 'Dr Death' was convicted of murdering 15 patients but is thought to have killed as many as 250 people.

Others that have spent time locked up behind its walls include child killers Ian Huntley and Robert Black as well as the notorious paedophile, Ian Watkins. Watkins – the depraved former Lost Prophets frontman – has been locked up at the Yorkshire prison since 2013 when he was jailed for 35 years for 13 offences against children, including the attempted rape of an 11 month old baby.
But confined in a basement below the wings housing the majority of these dangerous and wicked inmates, Robert Maudsley spends 23 hours each day in a glass box. His specially-built cell, said to be 18ft by 15ft, is surrounded by bulletproof glass with a concrete slab for a bed.

‘Marie Antoinette‘ Back On The BBCThe BBC has announced that it has acquired the second season of Canal+ Creation Originale Marie Antoinette. Sue Deeks, head of acquisitions for the BBC, said the first season of Deborah Davis’ drama had been a “great success” for the corporation. Marie Antoinette is produced by Claude Chelli and Margaux Balsan for Capa Drama, Stéphanie Chartreux for Banijay Studios France, as well as Bedside Productions. Season 2 is currently in production.
British filmmaker Matthew Vaughn (“Layer Cake”) was out and about promoting his upcoming Apple-made spy action pic “Argylle” at the New York Comic-Con over the weekend and dished about a handful of the forthcoming projects in various stages, including what is going on with the “Kingsman” franchise alongside confirming plans are indeed moving along with development for a reboot of his 2010 film “Kick-Ass.” Those tidbits were collected by Deadline, who attended the “Argylle” panel where Vaughn revealed that “Kingsman 3” with Taron Egerton and Colin Firth is still apparently on the books, hopefully before the two of them get too old to make it.
