Robert Carlyle has been pictured for the first time on set for the new Disney+ Full Monty TV series. The actor, who plays Gaz Schofield in the 1997 British comedy, was spotted filming on location in Manchester where he reunited with other original cast members Paul Barber, who played Horse, and Steve Huison, better known as Lomper. Robert, 69, was captured walking down the street sporting a Sheffield United football shirt with a denim jacket and grey jeans.
He was then snapped in a greasy spoon cafe. Steve, 59, was pictured donning a khaki bodywarmer and green fleece, crouched down in the middle of the road. Paul, 71, who is also well known for playing Denzil in Only Fools and Horses, was also spotted on set in camouflage grey trousers, a navy coat, and a navy flat cap.
The Bafta award-winning film is about a group of unemployed men in Sheffield who decide to form a male striptease act in an attempt to make some money. Almost 25 years on, the Disney production, which will go by the same name, will follow the same group of unlikely strippers across eight episodes as they navigate the post-industrial city of Sheffield and society’s struggling healthcare, education, and employment sectors. According to Disney, ‘the series will explore the brighter, sillier and more humane way forward where communal effort can still triumph over adversity’.
